Biography:
J. Tom Masullo, Jr., has the following degrees: B.S. in Spanish, B.S. in Business Education, M.Ed. in Counselor Education, and Ph.D. in Curriculum & Instruction with an emphasis on Language & Literacy Education from The Pennsylvania State University. Tom is a Pennsylvania certified teacher, and he is certified to teach Spanish, French, Italian, Business Education, Music, Health Education, Social Studies, English, and Grades PK – 6 in the State of Pennsylvania, in addition to certifications as a Principal and Superintendent. Tom worked in public education as a teacher, counselor, and school administrator for 35 years. In addition, he was named Outstanding Superintendent in the State of Pennsylvania by the Pennsylvania Music Educators’ Association in 2010. In addition, Tom received the Excellence in Teaching Award from the Department of Spanish, Italian, and Portuguese in 2021 and 2022.
After retiring from public education, Tom taught Spanish, French, Italian, and Music at St. Joseph’s Catholic Academy in Boalsburg in its inaugural school year. Other experience includes: Adjunct Assistant Professor of Spanish at St. Francis University and English, Spanish, and Office Technology Instructor at South Hills School of Business & Technology. He developed an online Spanish course for St. Francis University and taught the course for 8 years before coming to Penn State University. In addition, he has taught Conversational Spanish for the Healthcare Professions at South Hills.
Tom’s travels include: Italy, Spain, France, England, Ireland, and Greece. He serves as the pianist for the Hispanic Catholic Ministry at Penn State University. He is very passionate about teaching. When he is not teaching, Tom enjoys photography, music, reading, volunteering as an EMT, and traveling.
